PEACE ONE DAY
HIPPY International is proud to endorse Peace One Day, the United
Nations International day of peace. September 21st each year has
been designated a day of global ceasefire and non-violence. On that
day, HIPPY programs all around the world will conduct activities
to promote peace-related elements starting with the family and moving
on to the community with the hopes of spreading it around the world.
Peace One Day begins with peace one step at a time- one family,
one parent, one child. HIPPY programs all around the world will
conduct activities to promote peace and understanding.
- September 21st is the UN International Day of
Peace
- It is a global cease fire day passed by UN resolution
55/282.
- A day of global unity used to reach people otherwise
isolated as a result of conflict.
Its founder is Jeremy Gilley. Observance of the Day could include
conflict resolution, humanitarian assistance, educational programs,
interfaith prayer, public awareness events. Ministries of Education
world-wide are being asked to include peace related elements into
the curricula and encourage participants to develop their own ideas
and initiatives. HIPPY International endorses this project along
with organizations in some 42 countries, 17 at the governmental
level.
