PROFESSOR AVIMA D. LOMBARD (1926-2008): HER LIFE AND LEGACY

Return to HIPPY Israel

On February 19th, 2009, an exhibition opened at the NCJW Research Institute for Innovation in Education at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, celebrating the life and legacy of the late Avima. D. Lombard, Professor Emeritus at the university's School of Education and Senior Research Fellow at the Institute and Director of its Early Childhood Programs.

The Institute is proud to have served as Prof. Lombard's academic home, for it was here that this remarkable woman and her colleagues developed the flagship HIPPY program (originally known as the Home Instruction Program for Preschool Youngsters).

In the words of Prof. Emeritus Chaim Adler, former director of the Institute: "One doesn't always have the opportunity to watch a small pilot project grow into a national program and then an international one. It was an honor and a privilege to work with her."

Film composed of existing film materials from HIPPY Israel, HIPPY USA, HIPPY Australia, HIPPY Germany and HIPPY South Africa.
